Classic Doctor Who Season 3 (1965–66) – William Hartnell as the First Doctor
Step back into the black-and-white era of Doctor Who with Season 3, starring William Hartnell as the First Doctor. Airing from 11 September 1965 to 16 July 1966, this ambitious 45-episode run (across 10 serials) is one of the most eventful and experimental seasons of the classic series.
The Doctor continues his travels with companions Vicki (Maureen O’Brien) and Steven Taylor (Peter Purves). Along the way the TARDIS crew changes dramatically: Vicki departs during the Trojan War, briefly replaced by the tragic Katarina and then Sara Kingdom. Later, Dodo Chaplet joins, while Steven eventually leaves, and the season closes with the arrival of Ben and Polly.
